Hey! I’m SOLCA, an illustrator and security officer and gremlin based in Canada. 🤖✨ I make illustrations filled with stuff I love: anime and manga visuals, cool sci-fi settings, yokai, stylish street fashion, strong color palettes, and loud graphic design.

Most of my illustrations are connected to each other, taking place in the fictional worlds that live rent-free in my head, but you’ll see stuff that deviates from that here and there! Everything is also hand-drawn: I do not use AI in my artwork as a personal policy.

My main communication language is English, but I also use Japanese when posting on Japan-centered platforms and when I think it works great for the piece. In the latter case, I’ll include the English translation somewhere – like in the captions of my English social media posts!

After my college days and 5+ years as a creative professional in the tech, literature, and retail fields, I decided to pivot and become an independent manga artist, drawing my own stories and sharing them with others on my website. I also started a secondary line of work in another realm I was interested in, security and law enforcement, to support my main occupation as an artist and earn a steady income without ever sacrificing my creative vision and autonomy to earn a paycheck again.

Somewhere along the line, I realized that the manga production process wasn’t bringing me a grounded sense of satisfaction as a creative professional, so I pivoted back to illustration, my original bread and butter and the medium of expression that was aligning as a better fit with my current goals and lifestyle.
